The Story Behind the Work

Rice is perhaps the most ordinary material in the world. We eat it by the thousands and never think of one.

This work asks the viewer to count, not the grains, but the moments. Each grain stands for a single, forgettable instant. Together, they form a face that could be anyone's. The ordinary, gathered patiently, becomes a portrait of us all.
