The Story Behind the Work

This work began with a single coffee bean, held between two fingers. Dark, glossy, ordinary. One bean is nothing. But a face is made of thousands of nothings.

The portrait that emerged is of an elder, someone whose every line has been earned. Coffee for the depth of experience, rice for the light. From a distance, a face. Up close, only what the world walks past every morning.
